Professor Mitamura has worked at Tokyo University of the Arts for 44 years. His family has been engaged in lacquerware for generations. Since 1703, it has been passed down to the eleventh generation. In addition to inheriting the techniques of their predecessors, each generation has also added their own artistic expertise and innovations to present lacquer art works that are different from the past. For example, "Multi-layered Makie" and "Urique Tenmoku Makie" are lacquer art techniques created by Mr. Mitamura through the accumulation of experience. They show the layered sense of Makie and are also widely used in his creations. In addition, Professor Mitamura, who is good at carving, uses the changes in the shape of the wood frame to create various works that express virtual and real spaces. He also uses the density of gold and silver powder to make the works appear like a fantasy world.

西堀耕太郎日本

日吉屋 五代目社長

The fifth generation successor of Hiyoshiya, the only remaining manufacturer of Kyoto umbrellas. Born in Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture. After returning to Japan from studying in Canada, he worked as an interpreter at the city hall. After getting married, he was deeply attracted by the charm of the Kyoto umbrellas run by his wife's family, "Hiyoshiya", so he left his job as a civil servant and embarked on the path of a craftsman. In 2004, he became the fifth-generation successor. The company also proposed the corporate philosophy of "Tradition means continuous innovation", which not only continues the lifeline of traditional Japanese umbrellas, but also actively applies the technology and structure of Japanese umbrellas to the development of new products; the goal is to become a global, long-established business. Then, it collaborated with domestic and foreign designers, artists, and architects to develop co-branded products. In 2008, it began to actively participate in overseas exhibitions such as Maison&Objet (Paris), Ambiente, Tendence, Light+Builddng (Frunkfurt), and ICFF (N.Y.). Focusing on the Japanese-style lighting fixtures "KOTORI" series, we began marketing and exporting to overseas markets and are currently selling them in approximately fifteen countries around the world. In 2012, Hiyoshiya established TCI Laboratory Co., Ltd. by leveraging its accumulated experience and network, and began to assist Japanese traditional crafts and small and medium-sized enterprises to enter overseas markets, develop products and open up sales channels. In 2012, it also served as the organizer of the Contemporary Japanese Design Exhibition held in Milan, Italy (Fuori Salone).

Wang Hsia-Chun

Prior to the age of 34, Wang Hsia-Chun worked in advertising planning and served as an art director for several films, including "The Story of a Discharged Prisoner" (Yu Ching Sao), and also worked as an actor and director. Driven by a passion for aesthetics and an ideal, he resolutely left the film industry to study crystal glass and porcelain creation at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, USA.

In 1988, he co-founded Liuli Gongfang, Taiwan's first glass art studio, with his film industry colleagues Chang Yi and Loretta H. Yang, where he was responsible for creation and technical instruction. In 1994, he left Liuli Gongfang and, in the same year, established tittot (琉園). He led Taiwanese glass art through breakthroughs in creative techniques and mass production, transforming it into an international luxury brand symbolizing national honor. After years of effort, tittot became Taiwan's first publicly listed cultural and creative industry company and built the first crystal glass museum in the Chinese-speaking world in 1999.

Driven by his yearning for beauty and the anticipation of breakthroughs in white porcelain manufacturing technology, he dedicated over three years to intensive research, discarding tens of tons of failed clay. With the aspiration of being "not just the best, but the only," he overcame the technical challenges of shrinkage, cracking, softening, and deformation during high-temperature porcelain firing. This breakthrough shattered the 1,800-year-old mold of vessel shapes since the late Eastern Han Dynasty, injecting a sleek and robust contemporary style into the classical, ornate, and elegant porcelain DNA.
