1. Introduction
This Conference centers on the theme “Honoring Tradition · Forging New Horizons,” inviting a wide range of academic submissions to collectively explore the future development of the craft industry. We aim to gather new theories and diverse perspectives to foster the integration of academic research and practical application. Through scholarly exchange, the symposium seeks to highlight the unique strengths and innovative potential of Taiwanese craft, gradually building a craft knowledge system that is distinctively Taiwanese.
The value of craft lies not only in the continuation of technical skills, but also in the rediscovery of its inherent cultural and economic significance. Academic research serves as a powerful tool to provide us with a “new perspective.” As a theoretical foundation for innovation, it enables a systematic exploration of the essence of craft culture, reveals the potential of traditional techniques, and proposes innovative models that respond to contemporary needs. Furthermore, interdisciplinary academic exchange—linking craft with digital technology, social sciences, and other emerging fields—will further expand its scope of application, fulfilling the dual mission of preserving tradition and shaping the future.
